How does it work?
Almost every message on an Android phone passes through the notification shade on its way in. With notification access turned on, AppLock Master keeps a copy of each notification as it arrives: who it was from, what it said, which app and when.
Deleting a message later changes the conversation inside the messaging app. It doesn’t reach back into a notification that has already been shown, so the text stays in your history.
Which apps does it work with?
Any app that shows the message text in its notification — WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, SMS and most email apps. You choose which apps are kept, so a noisy one doesn’t fill the history.
What it can’t recover
- Messages that never reached your notifications: a muted chat, a chat you had open at the time, or an app whose notifications are off.
- Anything that arrived before notification access was turned on. No app can bring back a notification that has already gone.
- Photos, videos and voice notes. A notification carries text, so text is what’s kept — for a photo, that’s the caption or a line like “Photo”.
- Messages from an app set to hide their content in notifications, such as a messenger that only shows “New message”.
- The full text of a very long message, in some apps — the history keeps what the notification carried.
How to turn it on
- Open AppLock Master and turn on notification history.
- Allow notification access when Android asks. This is what lets it keep notifications as they arrive.
- Choose the apps whose notifications you want to keep. New messages are saved from then on.
Hiding notifications from your lock screen
The same access runs the notification blocker. Pick apps whose notifications should never show in the shade or on the lock screen, and nothing previews for someone looking over your shoulder.
It isn’t the same as turning notifications off. Nothing is dropped; the message is simply moved somewhere private, and you read it inside AppLock Master.
